About

Description and Mission

VIDA is Vanderbilt’s premiere Latin dance group. As one of the few cultural performing arts organizations on Vanderbilt’s campus, VIDA is unique in that its members are often predominantly non-Latino. VIDA therefore, is a multicultural organization that unites Vanderbilt students due to their love of dance and culture.

Through dance, performance, and periodic dance clinics VIDA seeks to expose the Vanderbilt and Nashville communities to Latin American culture throughout the year.

History

VIDA was founded in 2009 by Vanderbilt students who enjoyed the Vanderbilt Association of Hispanic Students' annual Cafe Con Leche event and wanted to perform Latin dance all year round.

Fun fact: VIDA's name was inspired by the founders' love of Son by Four's "A Puro Dolor."
